Columbian Squiressquires

An organization of more than 20,000 young men who have fun and share their Catholic faith, help people in need, and enjoy the company of friends in social, family, athletic, cultural, civic and spiritual activities. As a Squire, you'll be a member of one of more than 1,300 "circles" located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, the Caribbean, and other places where Knights of Columbus councils are located. Every circle is sponsored by a Knights of Columbus council, and Knights serve as adult counselors to the group.

A Squires circle is designed to be run both by and for young men. Through their local circle, Squires work and socialize as a group of friends, gradually developing into Catholic leaders.

If you are a Catholic young man, 12 to 18 years old, you should be a member of the Columbian Squires!

Check out the Squires' website at: www.estodignus.org

Please contact our Knights of Columbus council or parish office for more information.

Finance Committee

The role of the Finance Committee within the parish is to provide financial advice and assistance to the pastor, parish pastoral council and the parish at large. The churches fiscal year is the calendar year, that is, January through December. An annual finance review and report is completed and submitted to the Archdiocese. A summary of this report is provided to parishioners, along with an annual budget, in February each year.

The Finance Committee meets regulary to review the monthly accounting activities and to complete a review of budgeted receipts and expenditures vs. the actual receipts and expenditures. The committee also reviews any requests for unplanned expenditures. The parish priest also attends the monthly meetings, and a written summary is provided to parish pastoral council.

Social Action Committee

The Social Action Committee has been in existance since the late 1980's with Father Raab taking the lead in this new committee.

The mission statement of the committee is: 'To raise awareness of and take action on social justice issues'.

Our activities are as follows: support Development and Peace awareness campaign yearly; organize a special collection for Father Hébert's mission in Nicaragua; sell fair trade coffee and any other opportunity in the social justice field that may arise.

This year the committee has added an educational component to their regular monthly meeting by studying one chapter from the 'The Social Attitudes of a Catholic'.
